a week in the Peak District
Early April and our first outing this year in the RV. Not far from home but the beautiful Hope Valley in the Derbyshire Peak District makes a fine trip. The only problem, it was cold! Not in the van with its superb central heating but the daily hikes around the tops of Lose Hill, Mam Tor and Win Hill demanded many layers of warm gear. Our sympathy was with the campers on the site, waking up each morning to a tent covered in frost. And it was the early morning temperatures that convinced me a warm bed was preferable to a pre-dawn start to photograph the sun rising over Winnats Pass. I thought about it each morning, but not for long! We did get some lovely sunshine though and I enjoyed photographing the area and planning a return trip in the warmer months for those fantastic sunrise shots over the hills.
