SHOOTING FROM THE HIP

Motril Street Market, Spain. This is a wonderfully charismatic street market in the residential suburbs of Motril, a working port due south of Granada and definitely not a tourist town. We have shopped here many times and I really wanted to try and capture the atmosphere, and some of the stall holders and customers.

Walking through the market with a largish camera, with a largish lens, not particularly subtle or discreet, I was viewed with suspicion. I finally resorted to a little 50mm lens with the camera at hip height and just snapped away as I walked through. Better results and safer for me.
